Meet The Project Manager- Trudi Thompson

Experience and knowledge of our industry: During her career to date Trudi has worked for Portsmouth City Council, the Probation Service and most recently the Wheatsheaf Trust. She has many years’ experience of supporting people into employment and training, including working with offenders, lone parents and other vulnerable people.

Trudi also has contract management experience gained during earlier employment with Blue Arrow.

Key skills brought to the business: Contract management, awareness of issues facing disadvantaged young people in Southampton, supporting people into employment.

Academic/professional qualifications: NVQ Level 4 Information Advice & Guidance.


Meet The Assistant Project Manager- Shelley Arthur

Shelley joined Rainbow in September 2015 as Assistant Project Manager. Having previously worked for the Department of Work and Pensions and various recruitment agencies, her background is in helping individuals to gain employment through employability skills, life skills and encouragement. Through her time working for the DWP, she has experience of working with young people faced with issues such as: homelessness, substance misuse, offending, low motivation, learning difficulties and debt. Shelley manages the Moving 4ward Mentoring Service, responsible for the volunteer mentors. She has a breadth of knowledge on the local support services and partners of Rainbow and is keen to continue building strong partnerships within Southampton.

Ann-Marie McCarthy MBE
Chairperson

Ann-Marie has been a teacher in city centre schools since 1966. Throughout her career, she has always been involved with community issues. She was a founding member of the Rainbow Project in 1981 and holds the position of Chairperson. In recognition of her work with young people in Southampton, she was awarded the MBE in 2004.

Jane Richards

Jane is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and has worked for over 18 years in senior management positions such as Area Housing Manager, Special Projects Manager and Transformation and Performance Manager within the public sector. She currently holds the position of Business Manager with Balfour Beatty. Jane has been a Trustee/Director of the Project since March 2011.

John Mills

John Mills has been involved with the Rainbow Project since 1985 initially as a representative of the Local Authority due to his position as a Team Manager with Social Services. John has worked in the Social Services arena for over 40 years and has also been very active within the local community. In his latter years, John managed a Local Authority Family Centre geared towards offering therapeutic assistance to families to enable them to care for their children appropriately. A significant part of John's experience has focussed on Child Protection issues with the legal framework. Since his retirement, John has become a Trustee/Director of the Project.


Jayanthini Mahadevan

Jay Mahadevan joined Rainbow in 2013. Jay worked as a Financial Analyst with one of the 'Major Banks’ and following her retirement, joined the Rainbow project in October 2013. Jay has worked in a Finance environment for over 35 years and been involved with financial and management reporting functions for different business areas within Manufacturing and Banking sectors.
